A Monthly Curated Newsletter

Whether we are mothers ourselves or simply have someone in our lives who has played a motherly role to us, chances are, our lives have been influenced in profound ways by motherhood. Let's take a moment in this issue to honour, value, and draw lessons from the incredible wisdom of women and mothers who have impacted our worlds.

At 29 and married for just a month, she found out she had Stage 3.5 lymphoma and fought for her life

One month after her wedding, Kristen Juliet Soh discovered she had advanced lymphoma, a type of blood cancer that affects the body's lymphatic system. She opened up to CNA Women about how she fought for her life, overcame extraordinary trials with her husband, and went on to have two children.

Financial Lessons From Mom That Built A Lasting Legacy

Some of the most valuable financial lessons are taught at home from a young age and can be instrumental in building a legacy of financial stability and security. Elliot Kallen's mother is a survivor of the Great Depression and the Auschwitz concentration camp. Having applied his mother's advice to real-life situations to sustain financial well-being and professional success, Kallen, President of Prosperity Financial Group, has won accolades throughout his career and attributes those successes to his mother's words of (financial) wisdom.

Ullas Nair, G6 Army, MINDEF

I have known Kenneth for about 21 years since we worked together in PT & Sports branch of G6 Army, MINDEF. As that time he was a specialist enlisted and trained as a fitness instructor. I was his superior officer and we worked together in managing and monitoring the army’s overall fitness data and making plans and policies. He struck me even then as a dedicated person, who took his full time national service seriously. He worked hard to ensure that our data was accurate and reliable and fit its purposes. After he left his army service where he had done very well, he branched out into the insurance industry. I was certain he would not only do well but excel in his chosen field at Prudential. We kept in touch all through the years and he even recommended me some good insurance products. His service was excellent, he treat everyone as a special friend not just a customer. He even assisted his army colleagues to invest week and we all found him to be a capable and reliable person. As an individual, Kenneth has very good inter-personal skills and EQ, but he is genuinely a nice person and would contact us from time to time even if we were not involved in any business deals with him. He has a food reputation from all his army friends even after leaving service more than 21 years ago. I wish him the best and I know he will serve his clients and friends well.

Eddie Chin, HR Business Partner, CAG

I’ve known Kenneth since my army days, so that works out to more than 20 years… I must say since those days, Kenneth has been a natural mentor in caring for and taking care of his course mates (me included!). Armed with a positive and never-say-die attitude, he regularly galvanizes every one of us fellow trainees to “endure and excel” throughout the few months of training together. From the tough times we faced together, you could clearly tell that Kenneth was someone you could depend on, in good or bad times… 😊 I recall Kenneth was already clear at that young age (where most guys are probably trying to “act cool”), that he wanted to go into the financial planning line to help relatives and friends better plan for their needs at various stages of life. We continued keeping in touch after we were posted to different camps in Singapore, and shortly after we turned operationally ready he got his financial planner licence with Prudential! Without a doubt, I took up my first life policy with him after starting work myself. Fast forward 20 years, and Kenneth continues to conscientiously plan for me and my family’s needs in terms of insurance coverage. I mean it when I say “needs”, coz Kenneth never pushes for me to take on more than I should or could. Now that he’s leading his own team, he remains down to earth and continues to keep tab on me and my family’s well-being, as a good friend and trusted financial advisor.

Where do I actually start? Kenneth is an amazing agent with great character and he is definitely trustworthy. He has been with us close to 20 years. From handling just my individual portfolio, to handling my whole family (of 6) insurance portfolio. He is always there whenever I needed advice. Never once did he ignore my calls/texts. He even makes home visits whenever we need to to update our policies. I’ve recommended him to my sister and cousins. They were impressed by his personalised & thorough presentation and switched to Prudential. I must mention that Kenneth is never pushy and always gives us space & time to consider his proposal.

Having working with Kenneth for the past 4 years, I can say with certainty that Kenneth is an excellent mentor and a goal getter. He makes sure that we are well equipped with the knowledge and the necessary skill sets to provide top advice to our clients as well as to the people we meet. Being an introvert, it isn't easy for me at the start, but with his guidance and experience, I am able to smoothly transit into my sales role without much seatbacks. If you are looking for a breakthrough in your career or interested in doing sales but unsure if you are suitable for it, I would strongly recommend reaching out to Kenneth!

Kenneth's confidence, experience and his ability to vision made me took a leap of faith from my decent paying job & multiple offers to join his team. It was indeed a tough decision but I have never regretted ever since. He believes in me more than I believe in myself & will push me to do better, be better. I have grown a lot these 4 years under his mentorship, emotionally, mentally & financially. I'm proud to say that without Kenneth, I wouldn't be where I am right now. Everything happens for a reason. If you ever receive a call from Kenneth one day on a new career opportunity, pick it up, have a coffee with him. It might be the turning point you were waiting for.
